2013 Oscar Predictions
Jodie Foster Teaches Filmmaking
It’s that time once again for my Oscar Predictions. Once again, I posted my picks online on the Oscar website. However, for you old fashioned times, I will also post my picks right here. In a change of my usually routine, I will be watching the Oscars with a crowd of people at the Bloor Cinema here in Toronto. It will likely be a more exciting experience that watching it alone at home. Of course, this will probably mean that I will not be as active online (on Twitter et al) as I was for the past few years. Still should be a fun experience. Anyways, here are my picks for this year.
Best Picture: Argo
It seemed like this film was down for the count when it didn’t get a Best Director nomination, but countless pre-Oscar award wins suggest otherwise.
Directing: Michael Haneke, Amour
With no nomination for Ben Affleck, and Spielberg already having some awards on the shelf, I think Haneke will get his due.
Writing (Original Screenplay): Zero Dark Thirty
It would be nice if Moonrise Kingdom won, but I’m going with the WGA winner
Writing (Adapted Screenplay): Argo
Safe to say that it will be Argo‘s night Actor in a Leading Role: Daniel Day-Lewis, Lincoln
He’s already won nearly ever pre-Oscar award, so this is a sure thing.
Actor in a Supporting Role: Robert De Niro, Silver Linings Playbook
This is the hardest major category this year, with every nominee having previously won. I’m going with this return-to-form for DeNiro.
Actress in a Leading Role: Jennifer Lawrence, Silver Linings Playbook
I wouldn’t have guessed this earlier in the Awards season, but it seems like a sure bet now.
Actress in a Supporting Role: Anne Hathaway, Les Misérables
This is probably the most sure award of the entire Oscars.
Well those are the major categories. Here are the rest of my predictions:
