Trailer Thoughts: The Dark Knight Rises

thedarkknightrises

In addition to the six minute preview shown in IMAX theatres with Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, there is also a new proper trailer for (which I actually saw in theatres before Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows).

The tagline for The Dark Knight Rises is “The Legend Ends,” which is very apparent by this very apocalyptic trailer.  While the IMAX preview focused entirely on the lead villain Bane (played by Inception‘s ), this trailer features ‘s Selina Kyle/Catwoman, whose sinister dialogue narrates the first half of the trailer.

The trailer also gives away one of the major set-pieces of the film, which involves the total destruction of a football field (though I’m sure this will look amazing in IMAX).  While I would have probably prefer if mass destruction of this magnitude was saved for the film itself, I’m sure this doesn’t even scratch the surface of what will be in store for us in the film, which definitely seems to be all about Gotham getting totally decimated.

I have to say that I am more than excited enough for the film and I can’t wait to see it when it opens on July 20th.
