Box Office Thoughts for the Weekend of July 31, 2009

FunnyPeoplePoster 1As Funny People topped the box office, an IMAX release did nothing to boost Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’s box office earnings.

Even with the added screens, the box office earning dropped around another 40% proving that IMAX only really provides a box office boost during opening weekend.

That, Harry Potter is still safely as the third top grossing film of the year. The top spot is occupied by Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, which has a whopping world-wide gross of $806M.

And that’s the box office thoughts for this week.
