Movie Reviews to come in 2007

When I started this blog in the fall of 2004, in one of my earliest posts (and in many posts since) I stated how I don’t like movie reviews and, more specifically, the biases of the reviewers who write them.

However, I’m in film studies now, so I figured I should practice writing about films. As such, I decided to swallow my pride and attempt to review the films I see in theatres. I don’t know if I will review ALL the films I see, but I will at least try to review the big ones.

In keeping with my beliefs, while I will say what I personally thought of the film (and, if I like it, I may offer a recommendation), I will not go as far as explicitly say it is good or bad and declare that my opinion would be the only opinion that matters.

A bit of advance warning: Since I usually never see a film that I don’t expect I’ll like, don’t be surprised if 9 out of 10 times I write a positive review.

So, my reviews will start with the next film I see, which, from the looks of it, will either be The Good German or Smokin’ Aces.

And I will see you on Sunday for my Golden Globe predictions.
