Can’t Miss Films at the 2024 Blood in the Snow Film Festival

Can’t Miss Films at the 2024 Blood in the Snow Film Festival

The Blood in the Snow Film Festival just announced the line-up for their 2024 edition. This year’s festival will include 7 features, 1 short film anthology, and 5 short film programs. As I have previously seen three of the features at the 2024 Fantasia Film Festival, I will explain why I should consider seeing them at Blood in the Snow.

Blood in the Show 2024 Opening Film: Dark Match (Dir. Lowell Dean)

Dark Match

Dark Match is the latest film from director Lowell Dean and is a horror-comedy that combines a Satanic Cult with 1980s Professional Wrestling.

Why You Should See Dark Match at Blood in the Snow

  • Having seen this film twice on the same day (once through screen, the second through screening), I can attest that this is a film that is best seen with a crowd.
  • Features WWE and AEW professional wrestling superstar Chris Jericho as the main antagonist.
  • The film was just picked up for US distribution by Shudder and this will be an opportunity to see the film before it hits the streaming service on January 31

Blood in the Snow 2024 Closing Film: Scared Shitless! (Dir. Vivieno Caldinelli)

Scared Shitless!

Scared Shitless! is a horror-comedy about a killer slug invading the septic system of an apartment complex.

Why You Should See Scared Shitless! at Blood in the Snow

  • Directed by Vivieno Caldinelli, best known for the 2015 Lovecraftian short film Portal to Hell
  • Features extremely gory practical creature effects by Steven Kostanski (Psycho Goreman, In a Violent Nature)
  • Stars Steven Ogg, also in Dark Match, best known for The Walking Dead and voicing (and providing the likeness for) Trevor Phillips in Grand Theft Auto V
  • Features cameos by Kids in the Hall‘s Mark McKinney and Julian Richings

Blood in the Snow Closing Night First Feature: The Silent Planet

The Silent Planet

The Silent Planet is a sci-fi thriller written and directed by Jeffrey St. Jules (Bang Bang Baby).

Why You Should See The Silent Planet at Blood in the Snow

  • Stars renowned character actor Elias Koteas (Exotica, Crash)
  • An isolated science fiction story reminiscent of 2009’s Moon

The 2024 Blood in the Snow Film Festival Takes Place From November 18-23 at the Isabel Bader Theatre in Toronto
