DVD Picks – May 26, 2009

childrenofmen blurayIt’s a slow week with most of the new releases dominated by either direct-to-video films or films that I don’t really care about.

As such, this week I’ll just concentrate on the films that are getting their Blu-Ray releases this week.

This would be highlighted by the high-def release of Children of Men. This is a film I highly regret not seeing in theatres and I hope that someday I will remedy that.

Another noteworthy pick this week is Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, which despite some accent problems is one the better Robin Hood films. It would be good to watch in preparation for Ridley Scott’s upcoming version.

Rounding out the Blu-Rays we have new high-def versions of Field of Dreams, Seabiscuit, True Romance, Spy Game, and Cinderella Man.

And that’s my DVD Picks for this week.
