The filmmakers and stars of the film 9 to 5 reminisce on how it remains relevant 40 years later in Still Working 9 to 5. When it was released in 1980, the film 9 to 5 used satirical comedy to tell a story about women in the workplace. More than 40 years after the release of the film, stars Jane Fonda, Dolly Parton, Lily Tomlin and Dabney Coleman reunite to discuss the theme of the film and how they remain relevant to women workers of today. Still Working 9 to 5 is a documentary directed by Camille Hardman and Gary Lane, which is both a retrospective documentary about the film 9 to 5, while also talking about the women's inequality issues that influenced the film. This includes the fight by women activists for the Equal Right Amendment, which would add women to the American constitution. Today the film 9 to 5 remains relevant, particularly with modern issues such as the #MeToo movement. Even though I haven't seen the film, Still Working 9 to 5 does a good job at breaking down the plot of 9 to 5 and how it included feminist messages within the film's satirical comedy. In a similar fashion, it can be argued that Still Working 9 to 5 is a documentary about the continued issues of women's inequality, disguised as a retrospective about the film, making it a very timely documentary about issues that continues to be a problem for working women.
