Box Office Thoughts for the Weekend of March 13, 2009

RacetoWitchMountain PosterRace to Witch Mountain was the top film of the weekend with a gross of $24.4M. Last week’s top film, Watchmen dropped to second place with a gross of $17.8M. This is over a 60% drop for the film and it seems to suggest a lack of lasting mainstream appeal. Only time will tell if the film breaks even.

As for the other new films last week, Last House on the Left opened in third place with a gross of $14.1M and Miss March opened in tenth place with a gross of $2.4M.

And that’s the box office thoughts for this week.
