Trailer Thoughts: Pineapple Express and Step Brothers

This week, I am going to look at the trailers for a couple -produced comedies.

Pineapple Express

I first found out about this film by a scene that they included on the DVD for Superbad. This film, which stars and is essentially a stoner action comedy. From the looks of things, this film the most likely to gain a cult following out of all the films Judd Apatow is producing this year.

Step Brothers

I previously stated that I thought Will Ferrel’s routine was starting to get old. This film it no different, except that instead of playing the “arrogant crazy man,” he is returning to the “Man-Child” role, which was most prominently used in Elf. Ferrel and play bickering step-siblings even though both actors are in their 40s. The film may be funny (and there are some funny scenes in this trailer), but I want Ferrel to start acting in films in a more similar vein to Stranger Than Fiction.
