Oscar Week ’09: My Favourite Non-Winners – Scent of a Woman
BINGE Movies & TV
While 1992’s Scent of a Woman never picked up Best Picture, it’s notable for being the film in which Al Pacino finally won a Best Actor Oscar.
The film stars Chris O’Donnell as a prep-school student, who gets a job to watch over retired blind army Colonel Frank Slade (played by Pacino) over the Thanksgiving weekend.
The two end up heading to New York, where Slade plans to have a last hurrah before ending his life.
Both characters become new people throughout the film and the film is definitely a wonderful journey (and one of my personal favourites).
