An overworked elementary school student is guided by the sentient bubbles of a batch of rice wine in . Kim Dong-Chun has immense pressure put on her by her parents, as she finds herself placed in university prep courses at a very young age. While on a school trip, Dong-Chun finds a bottle of rice wine and decides to take it with her. It soon turns out that the bubbles of the rice wine form Morse code messages that end up helping Dong-Chun to succeed.

FAQ Synopsis

FAQ is a Korean family fantasy film written and directed by Kim Da-min. The young protagonist of Kim Dong-Chun finds an escape from the pressures put on her by her parents by imagining herself in a field with children’s show mascots. With the help of a bottle of rice wine and her estranged uncle, Kim Dong-Chun begins to go down the road planned for her.

My Thoughts on FAQ

As a whole FAQ is a cute children’s fantasy film, with a solid performance by its young lead. While the film does leave some threads hanging, such as whether Kim Dong-Chun was aware that the man helping her was her uncle, it ultimately has little consequence to where the film ultimately ends up.
