Puss in Boots

Puss in Boots

PussinBoots

As you know know Puss in Boots is the spin-off of the character from the Shrek films.  It is also the name of a popular fairy tale and part of me somewhat wishes they made the film a loose adaptation of the story.

That said, I still thought the film was quite decent in its spoofing of action/adventure films and Spanish culture.  Unlike the star-studded Shrek films, Puss in Boots has only a very small basic cast that include Antonio Banderas as the title character, as well supporting roles by Salma Hayek, Zach Galifianakis, Billy Bob Thornton & Amy Sedaris.

The plot of the film is a bit simple and there was a long flashback at one point that came off as filler.  However, overall I have to say that I was quite entertained by the film.

I would definitely say that Puss in Boots is better than the last two Shrek films and I would be willing to see another film staring the character.

8/10

P.S. A CGI Humpty Dumpty is super creepy looking.
