A group of neighbours taking shelter from murderous creatures have to deal with a killer among them in . An unknown outbreak has turned humans into bloodthirsty creatures. Derek Monroe (), Becka Thomas (), Jimmy Tenneson (), Cindy Dawson (), Frankie Bernard Isaacs (), and Lauren Goode () are part of a group of neighbours taking shelter from the horrors outside, taking shifts at night to keep watch. However, the group’s solitude is disrupted by the arrival of outsiders William Winter () and Hannah Bixby (), as well as the discovery that there is a serial killer in their midst, offing the survivors one by one.

Shifted is a survival horror film co-written and directed by . The film is set in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by blind zombies with spider-like appendages that come out of their mouths. However, this turns out to be the least of worries for a small group of survivors when they find out that one of them is a killer. This causes the trust between the group to disintegrate as they try to figure out who is responsible for the murders.

Shifted has a very “warts and all” DIY feel to it, which can almost be excused if it wasn’t for the film’s stupid, tension-killing narrative decisions, such as revealing the serial killer’s identity in the very first scene. This makes the film more of a “whydunnit” than a “whodunnit,” and it makes you hate the other characters for being so blind and, in one case saving the killer from certain death at the hands of the creatures. Speaking of which, the creatures are kind of cool looking. However, they take a backseat to Shifted‘s true narrative about the growing distrust between the survivors, leading to an incredibly groan-worthy ending.
