Students from around the world participate in a gruelling Microsoft Excel competition in . Every year, the Microsoft Office Specialist World Championships bring together the brightest minds to determine the best users of Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. The latter of the most difficult category and Mason from USA, Carmina from Guatemala, Alkmini from Greece, Nam from Vietnam, De La Paix from Cameroon, and Braydon from Australia compete to win the 2023 championship.

Spreadsheet Champions Synopsis

Spreadsheet Champions is a documentary directed by Kristina Kraskov, which follows six students participating in the Excel category of the 2023 Microsoft Office Specialist World Championships, ranging in age from 15 year old Mason to 21 year old Nam. The competition consists of an hour-long exam, which tests the participants in the categories of Knowledge, Application, and Creativity. Even for these highly intelligent students, this competition can push them to their limit.

In a nutshell, Spreadsheet Champions can be described as a “sports documentary for nerds.” Each of the six subjects have their own individuals arcs, with outcomes that range from pleasantly surprising to catastrophic. As such, even for people who don’t like or get Excel, Spreadsheet Champions is sure to keep you on the very edge of your seat.
