A married couple tries everything to reignite their sexual chemistry in . With their kids having gone away to camp for a week, Emma () and () decide to “make some sex” but find that their decade-long marriage has resulted in them becoming stagnant in the bedroom. As the days count down, visualized by the gnomes in their front yard, Emma and Josh try everything they can to spice up their stagnant sex life.

The End of Sex is a comedy directed by Sean Garrity and written by and starring Jonas Chernick. The film acts as a spiritual sequel to Garrity’s 2012 film My Awkward Sexual Adventure, which also starred Chernick alongside Emily Hampshire (Schitt’s Creek). This time around, Chernick and Hampshire play a married couple trying to reignite their sex life, trying everything from having a lopsided threesome with Emma’s friend Wendy () to Emma having fantasies about gallery owner Marlon ().

The End of Sex takes a very sitcom approach with its depiction of a heteronormative couple exploring some of the more taboo aspects of sexuality. While everything’s played for laughs, some of the situations Emma and Josh find themselves in can be interpreted as expressing phobias towards alternative sexual lifestyles, particularly Emma’s bisexual friend Wendy turning into an obsessed stalker after their “threesome” or a very awkward cameo by as Emma’s dad Arthur. However, by the end, The End of Sex is harmless fun about a couple trying to spice up their marriage.
