This Week in Movies – July 13-19

BeastsoftheSouthernWild 1

Even though it’s relatively light on new releases, I’m still going to be quite busy of the next few days.

New Releases

  • Beasts of the Southern Wild (July 17) – A big hit at Sundance and Cannes, I plan on checking this film out at the Bell Lightbox on Tuesday.
Festivals
  • Shorts That Are Not Pants (July 13) – I’m going to be heading to the NFB this evening to check out this compilation of short films.
  • Shinsedai Cinema Festival (July 15) – I would like to check out more of this Japanese festival, but I’m pretty busy and I’ll probably only have time check out the films on the final day.
Maybe
  • Nightbreed: The Cabal Cut (July 19) – The Rue Morgue Cinemacabre comes to the Bell Lightbox for a new 155 minute cut of Clive Barker’s 1990 film. I might consider going.
