This Weekend in Movies – August 7, 2009
On the heels of Transformers, this week sees the film version of the other Hasbro franchise G.I. JOE: The Rise of Cobra. The film wasn’t screened for critics, which is usually a sign that the studio does not have faith in the film. Based, on those who DID review the film, the film currently only has a 43% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Either way, I’ll still check it out.
In this week’s female-aimed counter-programming, the cooking comedy Julie and Julia is fairing a bit better with a 68% Fresh rating.
In limited release, the Paul Giamatti-staring Cold Souls is the best reviewed film of the week with an 80% Fresh rating.
