TIFF10: Contemplating the Changes

tiff09 1

It is really starting to seem that my fifth year as a TIFF volunteer will be marked by many changes.  First, there is an uncertainty over if and when I’d be able to volunteer, since I have applied for an internship that takes place during the festival (however, I should probably have a better idea on that by next week).

The other big change is that the opening of the Bell Lightbox is resulting in the festival to be more centralized downtown.  As such, the Varsity Theatre, which has been my venue of choice (and the easiest for me to reach via subway) will only be using two screens for public screenings this year.  The press and industry screenings that dominated the theatre will now be moving south to the Scotiabank Theatre.  I ended up signing up for both theatres and I’ll decide which one to go to when I am more certain of my availability.

It will definitely be an interesting festival.
