TIFF11: The Pains of Scheduling
Yesterday morning saw the release of the official film schedule for this year’s Toronto International Film Festival and I have been scrambling to compile a film list in time for single ticket sales in about a week and a half.
Because I’ve been doing a lot of volunteering at the Bell Lightbox over the course of the last year, I’ve saved up an incredibly large number of film vouchers and this year is shaping up to be my largest film festival experience ever. That said, I still had to sacrifice a few of my top choices, because their scheduling conflicts with my volunteer shifts (and/or a film editing class I’m taking) during the festival. Probably the film I’m most disappointed to remove from my list is Morgan Spurlock‘s Comic-Con: Episode IV – A Fan’s Hope.
Of course availability isn’t my only obstacle. People with ticket packages, as well as TIFF members, get first dibs at tickets, so many films will be offsale by the time single tickets go on sale to the public on September 3. As such, not only do I have to make my primary picks, but I also have to select a large number of back-up films, so I’m not left disappointed at the box office.
I’m sure my film festival scheduling will work out and this year will turn out to my most enjoyable film festival ever.
